FAQ

How is broad shop different from other local stores?

Founded by makers who are looking for an innovative way to connect clients to artists, Broad Shop seeks to create a different kind of retail experience. Instead of operating on the traditional wholesale or consignment model, we are charging artists a low monthly fee; a fixed and expected expense - that’s it. Aside from that, our members keep 100% of every sale they make and are able to re-stock goods as often as needed.

From the client side, Broad Shop is committed to exclusively selling local (within 100mi radius of Austin) goods. This is the community’s one stop shop and connection to all of the best makers in town. One of our key missions with this space is to educate everyone who walks in about the artists and processes, so customers fully appreciate the work and craft that goes in to creating these beautiful pieces.

What kind of work will you sell in broad shop?

All kinds! Everything from apothecary, to homewares, to paintings, to clothing! Reach out to us via the application and we’ll let you know if it’s the right fit :)

What is the monthly fee?  

$195

What kind of commitment do I have to make?  

To start your membership with Broad Shop, you’ll need to commit to 3 months. You have the option to pay those three months all at once for a 10% discount, or to pay the full $195 at the 1st of each month. Once your 3 months is up, your contract moves to paying $195 on a month-to-month basis.

How will I know when to restock my inventory?  

We will send out sales reports every two weeks letting you know which of your products are selling. You are welcome to come restock your inventory any time during shop hours (10am-6pm, Thursday-Sunday)

Our Vision

Our vision for Broad Shop came about pretty naturally; as makers ourselves, we were motivated to create a space that truly benefits the artists represented in it. One where the artist can anticipate and budget for a low fixed expense every month, and take home 100% of their retail cost - no dividing it up and losing anywhere from 30-50% of their piece’s true value.

After almost four years of running markets in Broad Studios, it became clear to us that the residents of Austin don’t need to look far for high quality lifestyle goods - a beautifully curated home and life can easily exist from things made by the hands of people in their close community. We firmly believe in the importance of investing in small local artists and businesses, and we want to be the one-stop-shop and advocate that connects makers to Austin’s growing population.

We see this endeavor as a natural extension to what Broad Studio’s mission has been from the very beginning: amplifying the creative community of Austin, and making supporting local artists accessible. We hope you’ll join us on this new journey :)
